About this bottle

Bulleit Single Barrel Bourbon releases are just that, bottled from a single barrel of bourbon. As is to be expected from such whiskeys, flavor variances will occur. Often the retailer, bar, or other purchaser of the barrel will include their name on the label as well as other bottling details.

Uncorked pick, "Gallenstein Selection #5" Barrel No. 4-E5-178 Sourced from Four Roses Distillery; mashbill - OESO Open 3 months Nose - Flower petals, gingerbread, strawberries, cardamon, fresh tobacco leaf, Red Hots, light oak, and medium ethanol. Palate - Spiced berries, rosewater, chocolate hazelnut, cocoa powder, orange bitters, and star anise. Honestly a really close comparison is Coca Cola Spiced. Finish is medium-long with noticeable oak tannins, cinnamon powder, dried rose petals, lavender, orange bitters, and light ethanol. This is a savory and floral bottle of bourbon. Bulleit does not disclose where their single barrels come from, but I was told by one of the employees who helped make this pick that it was OESO mashbill from Four Roses. It makes sense when you taste it. Light on rye spice, heavy on floral and brighter fruit notes. I think the proof hurts this. If it was barrel proof, those notes would overwhelm the palate. At 104 proof, it is slightly watery and dampens those flavors. Otherwise, good pick. I've been impressed with every Bulleit Single Barrel I've bought.

Bulleit Single Barrel "Old Smithville Edition” Barrel No. 2–E3-0409 *NOSE: Dry & Dusty. Brown Sugar & Cocoa Powder. Barnyard notes of Weathered Barn Wood, Hay and Dried Corn. There, but lurking in the back are notes of Cherry, Citrus, and a Light Florality. Very Good. *NEAT: Dark & Drying. Medium to Medium Heavy Mouthfeel. Oak Forward. Vanilla Bean, Brown Sugar, Cocoa, Toffee, Orange Peel, and Cherry. Nice Warming Finish, but not as warm as I expected for 104 Proof. Leaves a Coating of Musty Oak and Orange Peel that layers with each sip. *SPLASH: A few Drops of Water and some Black Pepper Spice shows up. The Citrus takes Center Stage along with some Pink Bubblegum. *VERDICT: Very Good! Checks a lot of my Bourbon Boxes. Dry (√) Barnyard Funk (√) Musty Oak (√) 100'ish Proof (√) Great Coating, Layering Finish (√). The only box it doesn't check is price. For $60, I'm not sure I enjoyed this more than Bulleit 10YR which I can find on sale on occasion for $40. It is a solid choice if you see it on sale.

Excellent - really quite exceptional. r/Bourbon Barrel Selection Barrel No. 2-E4-0766 Age: 11 years t8ke tasting notes: It's a time capsule in a bottle for me. It brings me back to the Bond Lair-esque tasting room at Bulleit. I love that place. Honey, toffee, praline, a Padron cigar. Light nuttiness, brown butter and a hint of char. With all of the wacky finishes of this week, this barrel is for the purists. No matter what end of the Interstallar universe you're on, it's quintessentially on profile for the old school Bulleit's I wish I could still pick today. Well developed oak comes through on the palate, blends nicely with some waffle cone, light confectioners sugar, a light malt sweetness like cake batter, and a long, peppery finish to balance it all out.

Nose : super interesting carmel, pesr, bananna Taste: starts with the carmel and pear, before the burn with pepper and resinous wood, then aftertaste has a bit of chemical flavor that longers on the pallette with the continued carmel and pear. The finish doesnt do it many favors, and other than the initial nose not super complex With a cube : opens up the finish better and cuts the chemical flavor alot thru much of the taste but the finish still has it. Enjoyed this, but wont likely rebuy.

Rich, delectable nose. Woodsy creme brulee with vanilla, burnt sugar and all the spices. But can the taste hold up? Yes it does. Caramel and cream and spice show up with oak and pepper. Leather and sawdust riding shotgun. The finish is caramel, tannic and spicy if a little short. Worth trying alongside other spicy dessert bourbons like High West Prairie barrel select, Barrell Batch 29, and Barrell D88i.

Nose: Smokey and vanilla notes. Lots of caramel notes, reminds me of Makers Mark. Palate: Bold Spice, warm lingering flavor. Similar to Makers Mark Whiskey. Alcohol punches through most of the flavor. Finish: Very drinkable, not viscous at all, clear apple juice like color. Easier to smell rather than taste.
