About this bottle

The Bulleit label, revived by Tom Bulleit, traces its roots to the early 1800s, when Augustus Bulleit produced a high-rye whiskey recipe for friends and family, though it was never sold commercially. Tom reintroduced the brand in the late 1980s, and it was later acquired by Diageo in 2001. Made with a mash bill of 68% corn, 28% rye, and 4% malted barley, it is bottled at 90 proof.

One of my all time favorite bourbons. Great for mixing and sipping. Makes excellent Old Fashioned. Nose: Opens with rich oaky and vanilla notes, mixed with hints of pencil shavings from the virgin oak. There's orange citrus and a little nectarines, with a touch of ginger and clove spice. Leather notes appear before water is added. A few drops of water bring out a refreshing menthol candy and mint. Palate: It offers a good mouth coating and isn’t overly sweet. You’ll taste salted caramel and vanilla, with subtle hints of honey and mint. The flavor rounds off with a refreshing subtle orange in the background. Finish: Surprisingly medium to long. It leaves you with notes of lime (not the fruit), oak, spice, and a minty freshness, the freshness stsys for a long time. A little touch of tobacco. The lingering spice and dried orange citrus add a nice final touch.

Nose: Alcohol, but also a nice sweetness, can't find the words but maby something like golden syrup, not plain sugar. Nice. Taste: Man, its much nicer than I remembered. The flavours are light, and not really deep. First sip I taste more syrup... Turns a bit more like honey, with hints of really ripe fruits, like you ate a yellow pear half an hour ago. It has a really nice oily texture to it. Conclusion: Im surprised! I remember this as abit simple from a few years back. But this time i really like it. Sure there are other whiskeys that are more complicated and packs more punch, especially for a little more money, but compared to Jim Beam (from what I can remember), this can compete. I think I will have some more!

A rich, Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey by Bulleit Distillery in Kentucky crafted with a high-rye mash bill that includes 68% corn, 28% rye & 4% malted barley, aged for a minimum of 2 years in charred new American white oak barrels before being bottled at 45% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of grains, wood, fruits, nuts, herbs & spices; while a rich & bold life adds notes of orange, English toffee & maple; that led to a balanced death of medium length adding notes of toasted oak, pepper, tobacco, & a touch of rye.

Got a bunch of some sampler whiskey to get myself into it more. This is pretty fine. Still, with my limited whiskey experience, this has a very strong boozy and oak flavor with a pretty good burn on the finish. I am drinking this neat. Gold in color. Oak aroma. Oak and maybe very subtle toffee flavor. Light body with a decent burn on the finish.

Nose smells of sawdust with a hint of smoke. Pallete starts with sweet and spicey but yet strangely smooth in the middle with some heat and a burst of spice going down.. I kind of like this one and it may have moved into my top 5. Will definately make this a stock item after I polish this bottle off.

Nose is predominately orange and rye spice. There are also some notes of vanilla, cinnamon and apple. Palate is a little thin with just some sweet vanilla notes up front. Midpalate dominates the flavor profile with heavy notes of rye spice and oak. Finish is peppery with quite a bit of spice and heat.
