On a small farm near Highway 381 Fernão Dias, in Perdões, southern Minas Gerais, João Mendes Cachaça was founded 35 years ago by owner João Mendes. Currently, the company is run by João's children, who strive to honor the teachings their father left behind. Today, the drink is nationally recognized and reflects an authentic history built and shaped by the ability to seek out new things without losing its true essence. João Mendes Carvalho Cachaça is aged for two years in oak barrels. Light, with an alcohol content of 38%. Produced at Sítio Vó Zirica, in Perdões, the beverage is manufactured with support from the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA). Distillation takes place in copper stills, and only the heart of the cachaça is used. The sugarcane is harvested without burning, preserving nature. The raw material is cut, transported, and milled on the same day, ensuring the highest quality product. The fermentation process takes place in a climate-controlled room to prevent the proliferation of fungi and bacteria.
