Cachaça Sanhaçu is produced in Chã Grande, Pernambuco. The Barreto Silva family has been working with organic farming since acquiring the property in 1993, and in 2008, when the drink began to be produced, it was certified as organic cachaça. The Sanhaçu Sugar Mill is considered the first in Brazil to be powered by solar energy. The producers have a well-developed agroforestry management system using native trees from the Atlantic Forest, and the property has become a natural refuge for native animals of the region, including the Sanhaçu bird, which gave its name to the cachaça. The Sanhaçu Sugar Mill reuses almost everything in the production process of the drink. All of the energy used on the property comes from renewable sources, such as solar and wind power, and much of the rainwater is reused. With this commitment to the environment, Sanhaçu received the Zero Carbon Certificate in 2013. Cachaça Sanhaçu Freijó 600ml is a drink stored for two years in freijó barrels, a typical wood from the Amazon. Light, it has an alcohol content of 40%. It is ideal to accompany starters, such as cheeses, salads, fish and shellfish. It can be enjoyed neat or in cocktails. The name Sanhaçu came about due to the large number of birds of this species that live in the forest located within the property where the sugar mill is located. In 2008, it received the seal that guarantees it as Organic Cachaça. Source Cachaçaria Nacional.
