With its still located in the city of Coronel Xavier Chaves in Minas Gerais, the brand was established by a colonel who was the great-grandson of Tiradentes' younger sister, Antonia Rita da Encarnação Xavier. In the small town, which is about 20 km from Tiradentes, is located the Engenho Boa Vista, considered the oldest cachaça mill in operation in Brazil. The mill was built in 1775 and has been producing cachaça ever since. Legend has it that the still operated on the farm of Tiradentes' older brother, Father Domingo da Silva Xavier. It is currently owned by Rubens Chaves, a descendant of the colonel who gives the city its name. For approximately 30 years, the mill has been producing cachaça in the traditional way that the family has carried on for 7 generations. Cachaça Século XVIII 670ml is stored in stainless steel barrels for one year. With 48% alcohol content, the distillate is a harmonious drink, with a noticeable but not aggressive alcohol aroma, reminiscent of sugarcane juice beginning to ferment. Furthermore, it is considered smooth and pleasant and is ideal to be drunk neat or to be used in the preparation of cocktails and various drinks. Source Cachaçaria Nacional
