Calumet Farm 15 Year Single Rack Black Bourbon (Whirlaway)

Incredible. The depth and bredth on the nose is a treat. Grape ane oak come through immediately almost like an oak aged port. There's also the deep brown sugar and caramel notes and a slight floral component. The flavor is just as enjoyable. Again, the port like grape comes through with just the right amount of oak. The sugars and spice are there as well. The finish is good with the oak coming in stronger, but it could have been a bit longer. All in all an excellent bourbon. I bought it for $130 and would buy it again at this price in a heartbeat.

Hot immediately on my tongue, not nearly overly hot, but not 15-year-old mellow for sure. Almost like a really young/aged blend. Thickish semi-oily mouthfeel. Alchohol! Sweet! Caramelized sugars, cinnamon, and pepper. Finish is medium long with sweet spicy tobacco and charred barrel. I will be buying it again and I will also buy the 16 year to try. I have had many of Barton's 1792 flavors and I feel like this is Barton's 1792. Total Wine Purchase

Nice old oak leather and tobacco alongside caramel, chocolate, maple syrup, nuts, berries, and fruits. Nose: Caramel, Milk Chocolate, White Chocolate, Lavender, Turkish Delights, Marshmallows, Golden Kiwis Palate: Caramel, Brown Sugar, Raspberries, Dark Chocolate, Hazlenuts, Leather, Maple Syrup, Tobacco, Plums Finish: Leather, Tobacco, Maple Syrup, Bananas, Makuna Honey, Cinnamon, Licorice

Ethanol and not the best flavor. This bottle has been open for months. Its 1/3 gone. I’ve hoped this bottle would open up. Nope. I know they are batch dependent. This one is a dud. Lots of enthanol, even after sitting in the glass a while. Flavor is meh. Im probably giving the rest away. Maybe a friend will like it. If they do, I have a back up. They can have it. Same batch too, 275402.09.

Immediate vanilla sweetness to start off, then caramel/toffee with cashew and almond. There is a bit of maple syrup but then turns to char and oak that ends with a rich, smoky medium length finish with specs of carroway, which is a little heavy on the ethanol. Its a good whiskey but i dont think id buy a bottle myself for the price point.

Starts earthy and tart with natural cherries and grass. Transitions sweet into maraschino cherries, whipped cream and vanilla. Ends dry with oak, leather and cedar. Undertone of cinnamon throughout which gives the palate a tingle. Elegant and smooth from start to finish. Really good stuff. One of my new go to’s.
