Interesting that this bottle was not yet listed here on Distiller. Well, I had to fix that... Color: Medium-Light Copper Nose: Maple; Caramel; Apple; Vanilla ; Slight alcohol nostril burn. Nice nose! Palate: (Drank with an ice cube) Mild chest hug on the first sip. Sweet, slightly syrupy mouth feel. Some nuttiness — which I really like. Further sips reveal some spice, as well as oak tannins. "Spicy" and "nutty" are the main take aways from pour #1. Let's go in for another to see if it might evolve... (Drank with a large ice ball) The biggest thing I notice is a more pronounced "oak" profile. Pour #2 is more woody. Whatever burn there was in Pour #1 is gone. I lost some of the "nutty" that was inherent to the initial pour. As the ice ball melts, the oak really comes out. Finish: I'm calling this a short finish with the spicy oak being front and center. Final Thoughts: I'd been eyeing this bottle behind the glass case at my grocery store for a few months now. But I just couldn't justify purchasing it blind for $110.00. Recently, they put it on sale for 50% off — so of course I pulled the trigger on it. I've pointed out in the past how I take into consideration, "price" when rating Bourbon. I will say that this comes into play here. At $55.00 this is a solid pour, and thus earns a solid 4.0 stars. Had I spent full price, I'd probably have given it 3.5. It reminds me of other bottles I have had over the years (but I couldn't tell you which ones for my life). I'd definitely buy again at this price. But glad I didn't buy at $90 - north of $100 which is what I see is the going price. If you see it for $50-$60, grab it.
