About this bottle
This unpeated bottling of Caol Ila is a cask strength version released as part of Diageo's annual Special Edition series. It matured in a mix of refill and rejuvenated American oak hogsheads and ex-sherry European oak butts. Bottled at 59.1% ABV, it will be available beginning September 2018.

The nose is light and fruity with vanilla and citrus, the mouth is quite briny and sweet and spicy. The aftertaste is quite long and turns a bit lemony and honey with spice. It is a very nice sip! Caol Ila feels like an overlooked gem on Islay(?), don't miss out :) Edit: Upping the score to 4.5 as this bottle is coming to an end, the don't miss out recommendation stands!
Nose: a little Sea salty, even vanilla. Taste has a lingering vanilla flavor, very aromatic (which I like)—fills your nose and mouth, soft woody flavor. Very nice oak finish which lasts. If you let it last long enough you’ll taste apples.
Clean, not overly sweet like an american whiskey, And still not quite a speyside kind of scotch since there isnt peat…its really a well rounded scotch. Thanks for sharinf John!
N: Salty, vanilla, apricots, green apples, light spices. P: Surprisingly smooth for 59.1% ABV. Mint, brine, honey, chocolate. F: Long, spices, salty, light honey. Excellent!
Very nice with notes of vanilla, peach, cherry, caramel, flowers, grass, pepper, milk chocolate, and raisins.
