Smooth and drinks more like a whisky than a brandy, but not really any complexity to the flavor. Reading the label this is blended with a hefty amount of neutral grain spirits, honestly to the level of a seven crown. Works really well as a mixer for basically any cocktails calling for applejack and could be a substitute for whisky in stuff like an old fashioned or sour or even throwing it in some cola or ginger ale or lemon-lime soda, but is a very mediocre at best sipper. Unfortunately in my area this is basically the only applejack available consistently.

About this bottle
Captain Apple Jack dates all the way back to 1934. It is a blend of neutral spirits and apple brandy. Supposedly 16 pounds of apples are required to create one bottle. The label states that it is blended and bottled by Hickory Town Distilling Co., the original brand behind the product, though it is now owned by Laird & Company. The product is presumably named after the 1931 film 'Captain Applejack' which, like the bottle label, also features pirate imagery.
