About this bottle

Diageo is aiming here for a lighter style of whiskey, hence why it is called “Blonde American Whiskey.” This whiskey is made from a high-corn mash bill and limestone filtered water from Cascade Spring in Tullahoma, Tenn. The color is light and clear in the glass because it is double chill-filtered. Keeping with the fishing theme the cork in the bottle can be easily turned into a fishing bobber. This whiskey will first be released in the summer of 2018 in Michigan and Texas where it will be featured at several festivals. Bottled at 80 proof.

Nothing wrong with it but nothing right either. Mostly just nothing. Slight corn nose and the palette is inoffensive but has nothing going on. Inoffensive is probably the best word to describe this dram. This seems to be engineered to be a hot weather mixer (even has a lemonade cocktail on the bottle) and if so, they nailed it.

Color is a soft crisp gold. Beautiful average legs. Nose is sweet honey, vanilla, and buttered toast. Palate is soft and sweet; more honey and vanilla with the classic oak underneath. Finish is smooth and warm, with a tiny amount of spice. A classic whiskey with nothing too overpowering nor underwhelming.

Absolutely nothing amazing, however, there is beauty is how simple this is. Not offensive in any way. Saw the bottle and checked the website and felt like I was looking at an ad for high end coolers, fishing, and a up north BBQ. But that is exactly where I'd love to take this bottle! Worth the $

To be fair, this is not my typical profile and it’s pretty good considering that it isn’t. To me, it’s similar to Johnny dram and makes a good cocktail. Smooth and simple. Vanilla and mild oak. No smoke and really no heat. A little fruity (apricot).

This one is not a keeper. Very astringent nose and no flavor. Mixed it with lemonade. The bottle makes a bold claim that it “may be the greatest American whiskey”. Hardly. Spend your money elsewhere.

Cyphrex 4.5

Smooth! Light hints of honey and mildly bodied. No real after taste maybe vanilla. Great on the rocks as a sipper or with a mixer such as coca cola. Reasonably priced, and readily available.
