This is a fine new release by Chivas, matured exclusively in Grande Champagne Cognac Casks. The only 15yo blend that Chivas has right now. Bottled at 40%abv. On the nose, its very appealing: Tobacco, Green grapes, Burnt oak, freshly cut green apples, Dry grass, Maple syurp and Pear. On the palate: Red apples, Cinammon, Ginger, Burnt oak. Aftertaste is herbal spicy, long. Overall this is a fine dram, an easy everyday whisky. 80/100.
About this bottle
This release from Chivas Regal is aged a minimum of 15 years and is selectively finished in French Cognac casks. The naming convention is a nod to the cognac system which tends to use letters such as XO and VS rather than age statements. The one-time global travel retail release is now a part of the permanent portfolio for the brand, with a full release in the U.S. market as of autumn 2023. (SRP $49.99)

đ Itâs strange but I have first the metallic notes you can easily find in Irish Whiskey. Apple pie, a little bit of caramel. đ Itâs a half smooth half dry palate. A bit briny, spicy (ginger). đMedium finish. It begins smooth and but then a butterscotch aftertaste arrives. đ€ Pretty nice dram. I prefered the nose to the palate, but the finish is nice. Itâs not the richer blend I had, but itâs good and worth the price.
Nose: rich and sweet concentrated notes of stewed apples homemade orange Marmelade, honey, cinnamon and moist juicy sultans. Taste: smooth and fruity flavors of poached pears intermingled with butterscotch and caramel toffees all rolled up is a wonderful velvety texture. Finish: Rounded off with a touch of vanilla on the finish.
Nez : vanille, caramel, chĂȘne, poire, clou de girofle, cannelle, herbe coupĂ©e, agrumes, raisins sec Bouche : Ă©pices dominante, raisins secs, poire, vanille, chĂȘne Finish assez long qui reste sur les Ă©pices, les fruits et les notes d'herbe coupĂ©e TrĂšs simple Ă boire, bon blend bien Ă©quilibrĂ© et assez complexe
Ive never had a chivas ive liked. this is is mildy better than the original, having some fruity notes from the cognac finish but the age or complexity is simply not there. finish is gone in a flash along with any flavor. Id never buy a bottle personally, so much better out there
Nose: oak, vanilla Palate: vanilla, caramel, raisins and dried fruits Finish: tastes âoldâ, short-medium finish, round, cool Overall a decent drop but not worth the extra money compared to the 12 yo. Can taste the cognac in the finish and appears a bit on the nose.
