About this bottle

Clynelish 12 Year The Wildcats Golden Gaze is one of eight bottlings for Diageo’s 2022 Special Release collection. Each whisky in the collection was selected by Master Blender Dr. Craig Wilson and each was bottled at cask strength. The theme for the 2022 collection is called "Elusive Expressions" and Diageo selected digital illustrators/artists Ken Taylor and Kevin Fong to design the packaging. Refill American oak casks were used for maturation and oloroso and PX sherry casks were used in the finishing process. Released October 2022. (SRP $199.99)

Color: Soft brass. Nose: Vanilla, agave syrup, and candied almonds. Allspice and rye bread add warm baking notes. Palate: Sherry notes lead the way, with a thick waxy mouthfeel. Pleasant light fruit notes join an almost earthy vegetative character. Finish: Rich baked goods carry a gentle spice, with apples and orchard fruits peeking through. Diluted: Warm notes of mulled cider and buttered toast on the nose, with a sweeter, softer palate. Finish further emphasizes the bourbon notes present beneath the sherry.

Palate: Rich and complex, featuring layers of golden raisins, dark chocolate, and a touch of warm spice. Finish: Long and satisfying, with lingering sweetness, dried fruits, and signature Clynelish waxiness.
