About this bottle

Dudognon is a grower-producer cognac house with the family having grown grapes on their estate since 1776 in what is now known as the Grande Champagne region. This Heritage bottling is aged up to 40 years in cask, but remains somewhat translucent which is attributed in large part by the fact that zero additives are used. No boisé, no caramel, and no sugar syrup is used; a rarity in the world of cognac today.

Ooh, interesting. The rancio is apparent even in the nose, although the rest of the nose is overwhelmed by alcohol (despite only 41% ABV!). There may be some maple syrup hiding in there. On the palate is a light, gentle tingle that gradually concentrates into viscous vanilla - elegant, though, not overpowering. Somehow it maintains a texture that is both thick and light. The finish evaporates sends oak right up the nose but maintains the mouth tingle with no fire down the throat. Truly quite interesting.

Old school direct fire cognac. God bless the distillers continuing this age old tradition and basically having to sleep next to the stills. This cognac is round and slightly floral with a beautiful caramel finish.

Some of cognac’s finest. Very smooth and loaded with flavors from caramel, tart green grapes, chocolate, and barrel spices from the French Oak it was aged in.
