Visual: dark copper; thick, slow legs. Nosing: Rough, hot, and wild. Dark wild honey, figs, vanilla. Sugar can cola and brown sugar. Lots of nutmeg and clove hit the back of the nose as well. Tasting: cherry lozenges and cherry cola. Very sweet and oily with great body. Red candy with tons of baking spices: cinnamon and clove on the back end. Reduced Nosing: after adding water, pure notes of cured leather come through. Lots of cinnamon and spice also come through. Reduced Tasting: creme brulee crust and musty oak; sweetness has lessend. Still oily with a finish of damp cigar on the the back end. Damn good dram. Balcones sure knows how to make a great whisky! If you can find this bottle, I highly recommend it! Very complex and comforting.
