Purchased as part of the 2020 Limited Spirit release. An enjoyable dram, expectedly reminiscent of a slightly peated Speyside, but the port finish is nearly indiscernible. Perhaps not worth the cost.
Cragganmore 2008 Distillers Edition (Bottled 2020)
About this bottle
Diageo's Distillers Edition collection features some of the brand's prominent distilleries. They are made by taking a core bottling from the distillery featured as the base and giving it a secondary fortified wine maturation. For the second maturation, bespoke barrels are created with recharred American oak bodies and charred cask heads made from new American oak. These casks are filled with the fortified wine for a month and then dumped. Then the core offering from one distillation year rests for up to six month. This bottling is made with Cragganmore 12 Year distilled in 2008 and the wine here is port.
