was excited when I spotted this on the shelf.... right up my alley I thought.... bought the bottle w/o hesitation.... turned out to be the first bad purchase I made spirit-wise in 2023.... it has no taste and tastes horrible all at the same time.... an amazing feat... I will leave it on my shelf as an oddity for others to taste and if anyone likes it I shall gift it, but chances are this is destined to be poured down the drain. a combination of tepid dishwater with some algae.
Currach Single Malt Atlantic Kombu Seaweed Cask
About this bottle
Currach Single Malt Atlantic Kombu Seaweed Cask is a whiskey release from Origin Spirits. The whiskey begins its life as a triple-distilled single malt which matures in ex-bourbon barrels. Then the whiskey is finished for an additional three months in virgin oak which charred Atlantic kombu seaweed inside the vessels. Currach is a type of traditional Irish boat--one of the oldest types of boats in the world--made from wicker, tar, and animal skins and is still used today to harvest seaweed in Ireland.

Nose of port (interestingly) and a little vanilla; not a lot of flavor—some oak, malt, and a hint of vanilla; a little heat, medium texture; finish is dusty and a little oak; no salt or brine I’d hoped for from the cool concept; really just not much flavor overall
Taste of seaweed hits you before you take a sip and stays with you long afterwards
A bit harsh, high spirit that kicks you, salty,
@wf22 maar dan wel de Wakame versie!
