The Dalmore has released a second Luminary edition; and this one is another celebration of architecture masterpieces. This time, it honours V&A Dundee. Allegedly this contains a rare batch of peated Dalmore, and it is bottled at 48.6%abv. On the nose, this is truly fruitu and sweet. Tangerine, Jellybeans. It feels like every sweet from the videogame Candycrush, lol. Lulo fruit, chocolate. After some sips it became super spicy, with white chocolate notes. On the palate, it is a little watery. Vanilla cream. Tangerine, white chocokate. A little dim. Metallic penny coin. Aftertaste was perfect. Full acid potency. Tangerine, Oranges, Citric madness. Chocolate with oranges; Sulphur, Metallic. After a couple of sips, jellybeans, gummybears and other sugary sweets. Overall, i really was amazed with the aftertaste of this one. I found no peat at all, other than some sulphuric notes. The palate is a little watery and dim, but the nose and aftertaste are very good. My score for it is 92 over 100. A good offering.
About this bottle
The Dalmore's Luminary series is a three part series of rare and limited edition single malts created by exceptional luminaries from the worlds of whisky and architectural design. Here, the brand collaborated with V & A Dundee, Scotland's design museum. The single malt whisky contains a small amount of rare peated Dalmore spirit. After aging for 16 years in bourbon casks, it was then finished in a blend of Graham's Tawny port pipes and Apostoles sherry casks. Additionally, a small portion was aged in peated ex-refill bourbon casks. Available at select retailers worldwide and at Global Travel Retail beginning April 2, 2024. (SRP $350)

Ran slightly hot for me at first. Heat subsided in about 5 minutes with an ice ball. Smooth flavor. Hints of vanilla, light caramel, and sugar. Glad I was able to purchase as its a very limited offering. I was lucky enough to get after a Dalmore tasting session at a liquor store that only got 6 bottles. Only 3600 bottles available in US. Not in my absolute favorite scotches, but pretty high up there.
Dark, rich, nutty, and a bit smoky. Nose: Raisins, Blueberries, Plums, Almonds, Cloves, Ginger, Dark Chocolate, Candied Oranges, Dates, Makuna Honey, Morello Cherries, Stewed Red Apples, Leather, Smoke, Passion Fruit Palate/Finish: Raisins, Honey, Ginger, Walnuts, Blueberries, Espresso, Cloves, Mocha, Butterscotch, Fig Newtons, Christmas Cakes, Green Apples
This is an exceptional Scotch. The expert notes are spot on. Unlike some comparable expressions that exhibit more sweet and fruity highlights from port caskets, this Dalmore is heavy on the peat smoke, earthy, and leathery undertones
