Darkness! is a range of whiskies sourced by Maverick Drinks, a UK spirits distributor representing craft spirits from the US and Europe. These whiskies are aged in bespoke 50L barrels which use staves from former sherry butts (which are usually 500L). This provides more whisky-to-barrel contact. The sherry barrel used here was a former Pedro Ximénez barrel, a dessert-style sherry; the 12 Year Bruichladdich spent over three months in the barrel before bottling at 111.2 proof.
