Beautiful natural amber to copper color, non-chill filtered, very viscous, and oily. Nose is mature and complex, starting with a hint of smoked sprats in oil, mature oak, a hint of vanilla, and raisins on the back. Notes of dried grass and an old wooden house somewhere deep in the forest in the middle of fall keep coming to mind. The palate is complex, mostly sweet yet with a slight bitter oaky note, and aromas of figs, apple, raisins, vanilla, butter scotch, and lemon zest all playing well together in a beautiful symphony. You can definitely sense the influence of the sherry here. Finish is medium length, mostly vanilla and raisins, but the very last note is still that smoked oily fish that occurred on the initial nose. A few drops of water in this 46% ABV dram opened even more fruity character, but the oiliness and richness remain. Finish also gained more citrus character along with some apricot notes. Overall, this is a very complex and super smooth dram, well worth the money to try. Bought this one at Costco for $139 (375ml).
About this bottle
Dewar's Double Double 32 Year is a blended scotch crafted by master blender Stephanie Macleod which is aged in a "four stage aging process." The first step involves single malts and single grains which have been aged separately at least 32 years. Next, the single malts are blended together and rested in exhausted casks. This process is also done for the single grains. Then, the blended single malts and blended single grains are blended together and again rested in exhausted casks. Finally, the blended scotch finishes its maturation in sherry casks. For the 32 year, it is finished in ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry.

Have to put this rating in posthumously...killed a bottle of this, with friends, at a blind tasting of bottom shelf offerings, and this was the 'prize' at the end. $150 for 375 ml, this is one of the priciest pours I've ever had... Nose is complex - smoke, leather, orange marmalade, and sherry all evident, and the PX notes come through on the flavor. Smoky without being oppressive...tobacco, more leather, and dark fruit all on the palate. Easy drinking - smooth, yet rich. Was this good? Absolutely! Was it great? Borderline... Hard to justify this price with what else is out there, but if you're looking for an experience, this offers one!
I can’t believe this only received an 88... this is not just whisky, this in an experience. I can’t describe how well the deep malt and fruit notes intermingle here and it is amazing how the age shows in this one. I had a hard time justifying the price but after tasting it I’m so glad I got a bottle... simply superb.
This is absolutely outstanding. You get that old oaky note from a well aged scotch and the deep rich sherry. An amazing combination. Definitely exceeds my expectations. Grab one of these if they are still out there.
Candle wax. Maybe it was just this bottle but highly disappointed.
Very smooth and full of flavour
