I purchased a bottle of this several years ago, and was pleasantly surprised when I received it. This is a very good rum, infused with good coffee. This is one I would definitely revisit, but unfortunately La Colombo has “sidelined” their distillery.
Different Drum Rum
About this bottle
Founded by Todd Carmichael and JP Iberti, La Colombe originally started as a coffee roaster. While traveling around the world looking for coffee beans, the duo discovered that some coffee producers also distilled their own moonshine. This inspired them to create their own spirit at their flagship store. Using cane sugar as the base, the rum is then infused with Panama Geisha and Indian Monsoon Malabar coffee beans - considered to be some of the best coffee beans in the world. The beans are infused through a "cavitation" process where the beans are exposed to a pressurized inert gas, causing them to release their flavor. This rum is bottled at 40% ABV.

I'd call this a novelty. La Colombe makes great coffee but has a ways to go in the distilling business.
Nothing special, just coffee flavored rum.
