OHLQ pick Distilled in April 2007; Bottled in 2022 Bottle No. 157 of 582 Age - 14 years 61.8% abv; 123.6 proof Original price ~$180; Sale price $98.49 Open 4 months Nose - Hot cherry pie, plum, blackberry, red apple, toasted vanilla, cereal grain, honey, and medium ethanol. Palate - Decadent sherry, Luxardo cherry, berry compote, maple glazed doughnuts, and sweet malt. Finish is long with light oak tannins, light musty sherry, cherry hard candy, stewed plums, and medium ethanol. I saw OHLQ was heavily discounting a lot of Scotch and Irish whiskey and jumped on some that I would have never purchased at original price. OHLQ made a huge push in 2023 to bring in a lot of independent Scotch and Irish brands, and also had a lot of picks. This one is a true standout. Decadent sherry notes without being too sweet or musty. I have seen Tamdhu 14Y Cask Strength as low as $100 here in Baltimore, so I will definitely pick one up soon to see how it compares to this single barrel.
