This is one unique single barrel. The mashbill alone of 80% Corn, 10% Malted Corn, 5% Rye and 5% Malted Barley is way beyond the norm. As a value proposition, this bottle has a lot of competition with other great, aged, cask strength bourbons that often come in a lot lower on price. However, as a conversation piece this thing ticks all the boxes. It's aged in two separate climates (not intentionally), by a now defunct distillery, and bottled by a independent organization in a bottle that just screams "ostentatious." Like the legend it's named after, Doc Holliday boast some serious swagger in an old time, grooved bottle, western label, cast metal "loaded revolver cylinder" cork, and 3D gold colored steer skull. Heck, the label even says "I'm you're huckleberry." Maybe I'm a fool for opening my bottle (21 of 149 according to the hand written side of the label) rather than saving it for an investment, but I can't leave this whiskey undrunk. It's flavorful, malty and spicy, but very approachable at its proof. I think a little water helps tone down the spice and gives some chocolate notes that's probably from the malted corn. It's a great whiskey that's really unlike any other bourbon I've had, although you pay a premium for that novelty. Sure there's other cask strength bourbon out there that I like better and cost way less, but I'm not sorry to have such a fun bottle I can share with friends when they come over. Nothing like this will likely ever be made again, so if you have a chance to buy or try it, I think its worth the premium pricing.

Found this in a small liquor store in Idaho Springs. I didn’t take it seriously until i saw the price. At that point, my enduring interest in Doc Holliday took over. Nose is a highly polished old piano with traces of leather, a hint of cherry and maybe some peanuts. Smells like some old school ryes i have known. The aroma does not mess around and implies this whiskey is looking for someone to punch. The palate follows through with caramel and oak and pepper and leather and the hot zing of a bullet, ahem, cinnamon and clove. Contemplation and a drop of water reveals dark fruit and possibly cocoa. An impression of apple pie with lemon slices. This is an aggressive, sophisicated sip and no mistake. The finish does not go quiet into that good night. I’m happy to have encountered this bellicose but polished whiskey. Especially when I later discovered it at home at a considerable markup.
Extraordinary whiskey. The bottle is gimmicky but the juice is worth the coin. Haven't had anything with malted corn in the mashbill before, but if that's what makes the difference here, I'm going to buy every malted corn whiskey I see. I get butterscotch and dark fruit. The flavors are intense and the whiskey coats the mouth. Despite the higher proof, this is not a "burny" whiskey. It is delicious.
Starts off with a big caramel and brown sugar, along with a bright, punchy pepper note that I really like. I also get some baking spices and citrus. Overall very good and has some nice spicy notes that makes it unique. Mouthfeel and depth are both very good.
Nose: Heavy orange peel notes, Palate: extremly smooth and creamy, reminds me of an orange creamsicle. Heavy vanilla, orange peel, and leather notes. Very long finish.
Heavy butterscotch and oak on the nose, caramel, floral, and spice on the palate. Complex rich mouthfeel, really solid
