AGE // 5 Years BARREL # // 2289 NEAT NOSE - Cherries, Caramel, Honey PALATE - Thin mouthfeel, but very flavorful. Caramel is the most dominant note supported by the cherry and honey for an incredibly easy sipper. FINISH - Pretty short unfortunately but there is absolutely no burn. BUY? - Yes! These are very scarce where I live and I was happy to stumble across this one. I hope to find it at cask strength one day. For now, its a definite buy. I got this for $45. This would be in my top 10 for bourbons to recommend for beginners because of the drinkability and sweet flavor profile. However, from reading some other people’s tasting notes, it seems like these barrels vary in flavor quite a but from one another. BUY AGAIN?? - At this price point, how could I not?

2022 Total Wine SiB Pick Pours a burnt honey color, oily legs sticking to my glencairn. Nose: Cherry licorice, vanilla, ethanol feel but pleasant red fruit, strawberry cheesecake, sweet. Taste: Grain heavy, dry, honey but no sweetness or fruit that I was expecting from nose. Definite oak and burnt cereal, like roasted Honey Nut Cheerios. Finish: Fairly short, slight pepper, some bitterness. Overall: 3/5, the nose was the most pleasant part of the pour. The taste was “fine” after the expectation of fruit and sweetness from the nose was thrown away, but the finish left too much bitterness lingering as the final note.

Ruddy copper color. The nose has Tahitian vanilla and cinnamon sugar, along with blueberry jam, marzipan, and fresh baked bread, with hints of citrus and spearmint tea. The mouthfeel is fairly thin, almost effervescent, but it's incredibly easy to drink as a summer sipper. The palate has cinnamon chewing gum and bubble gum up front, then grassy rye spice, cherry cola, burnt cinnamon stick, chocolate malt balls and boiled peanuts. The finish is medium length, led by more of the bubble gum note and rye spice, along with black tea and hints of peanuts, cocoa and barrel char.

CBRC pick, “Luke’s Unicorn Dream”, 41 months, barrel 1558, 118.6 proof. Definitely a heavy hitter, can taste the ethanol but it’s well managed. Nose has notes of cedar, vanilla, overripe fruits and tea. Palette is similar but additions of cinnamon and rye heat. Finish is exactly what you expect of a high proof rye. Long and hot. A little expensive for this but it’s best use has been as a high proof rye in an old fashioned.

Really nice nose on this. Circus peanuts. Caramel. Vanilla. Some baking spice. The palate has some kind of vegetable taste to it. Something green, but isn't off putting by any means. There's more of the vanilla and caramel. It finishes with peanut, fudge, and spice. A well above average pour which doesn't quite make it as something I'd drink neat, but will do well with cocktails.

Vanilla, spicy, light honey, and a little oak. Purchased at the distillery. A young company and whiskey aged only 31 months. Can slightly tell early in aging process but tastes better than age would suggest. Proofing to 96 helped keep tasting notes from a young whiskey. Excited to see what the future holds with further aged bourbons. Well worth a try.
