A delicate, Irish Whiskey by Dunville's (originally Spirit of Belfast founded in 1808) that is a blend of pot still, malt & grain whiskeys made with the family's recipe from local organic barley; aged in ex-bourbon casks. It has an aromatic birth with notes of fruits, grain, nut, wood & spices; a rich & balanced life adds notes of freshly baked bread, toasted malt, vanilla bean, pear, citrus, almonds & oak; that leads to a long & herbal death. The nose is gentle with an offering of oak, barley, honey and straw. A very typical Irish nose. The palate is just as gentle but offers up a lovely heaping of oak, barley and honey. The sweetness is subtle and offers a nice touch to the more dominant straw flavors. The finish is mostly short with lingering oak and straw, completely a nice yet simple sip.
Not the strongest nose. Small fruity aroma. Taste is soft and very sweet. Butter, vanilla, lemon notes. Some light pepper too. Some incredibly mild smokiness. Easy drink but incredibly uncomplicated. One for beginners or cocktails more so.
A sweet, green grapes/white wine nose, more fruitiness on the palate to go along with sweet pastries and a touch of smoke to end. Very nice and a great value
One of the better irish blends I've had. Good smoke. Good hint of peat. Really surprising.
