Hits with consistent heat through the palate which I like. Spice, leather, cherries notes. Easy finish. Very good bourbon but this bottle labeled Spring 2013 not worth price tag to me. My scale: 1 - I’m giving this drink away 2 - I’ll mix it, but doesn’t stand on its own 3 - Enjoyable, but I’m willing to try something new 4 - Very good, If it’s on the shelf or menu - I’m buying 5 - Greatness Achieved, this drink is worthy of collecting
About this bottle
Once a year, the Buffalo Trace Distillery releases a grip of 5 labels, forming the Voltron that is the Antique Collection. Hard to find, but easy to drink, the Eagle Rare 17 is one of the best of the Antiques. Some may call it a watered down version of George T. Stagg, but that's not a bad thing.

—ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE EAGLE RARE 10— just for the record. This reminds me of more of Thomas handy, but a little dryer. It’s complex and soothing- Nose: campfire s’mores, roasted chestnuts palate: subtle dry vanilla berry unsweetened dark chocolate, hazelnut. Finish: dry, light oaky Carmel. It’s pretty good but I wouldn’t bend over backwards to acquire a bottle.
Clearly above my pay grade (complexity)! Yet, hard to decipher because it's so well balanced, actually melts in the mouth. Probably the easiest drinking bourbon I've had the pleasure to enjoy.

Very, very good (but not as good as the 1792 when viewed on a dollar basis). But really smooth.
The English breakfast tea and cherries are undeniable in this whiskey...and I'm a tea lover!
