There is a lot of agave freshness on the nose with orange blossom, salt, oak, and vanilla. There is a burst of orange, lime, salt, and agave on the tongue with a mouth feel that is rich and decadent. The finish is oaky with a touch of spice.
About this bottle
Like the brand's standard Reposado tequila bottling, El Tequileño Reposado Rare is made with 100% blue weber agave sourced from Los Altos in Jalisco and mineral rich spring water from El Volcan de Tequila. However, the tequila is aged for 6 years in huge American oak barrels which hold up to 23,000L. Ordinarily, that amount of time in barrels would qualify this as an extra añejo designation, but Mexican law limits the size of barrels for that style to just 600L .No additives are used. (SRP $225)
