The nose is gentle, immediately offering up ripe fruit, oak, fresh flowers and the faintest hint of honey. This is very fruit forward, coming across more like a brandy than a whiskey. It's intriguing and gives you great anticipation to see if if follows through when you take a sip. The palate is just as gentle offering the great balance of ripe fruit and charred oak, with a touch of rye spice bring it together. The added intensity from the spice is very much welcome as it gives depth to the sweetness of this whiskey. And it is definitely all about sweet and floral notes which is honestly a welcome change. It keeps the experience rather simple but different, with a depth of flavor that really goes a long way. The finish is medium with lingering notes of spice and sweetness as everything else unfortunately too quickly fades away. The finish is the one thing that really holds this back, if only it was just a little longer and richer.
