The nose is gentle and very typical Elijah Craig, but there is a definite extra kick in the floral rye spice and charred oak. It is very full and inviting, a definite improvement over your usual small batch Elijah craig. The palate is simple, opening up with charred oak, floral rye spice and touches of cooked brown sugar. This definitely takes Elijah Craig up a notch without adding any unnecessary complexity. In short, it is simple and enjoyable which is what you always expect from this brand. The finish is somewhat short almost medium, yet it remains chewy as all of the flavors fade. Something so simple, yet you keep wanting to go back for more. For the price in the age of this bourbon it's pretty fantastic.
