About this bottle

100 Year Tribute is a commemorative bottling honoring what would have been the 100th birthday of Elmer T. Lee, former master distiller emeritus for Buffalo Trace Distillery. This 100 Year Tribute is still a single barrel bourbon and is made using the same mash bill and age as its standard Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon, but it is bottled at 100 proof rather than 90 proof. Proceeds from this limited edition bottling will go to the Frankfort VFW Post 4075 where Lee was a member until his death in 2013. Available August 2019 while supplies last.

The color is a vibrant amber that coats the glass without missing a spot. The nose is mild with oak, caramel, brown sugar, rye spiciness and touches of vanilla and citrus. It all comes onto the palate somewhat chewy, with creamy rye coming forward along with cinnamon and pepper, while all the other notes play backup. The finish is medium with the sweeter elements fading away leaving oak and rye to hang on a bit longer. A good bourbon, but lacking in complexity and finish.

To quote DUBZ480: ‘It's got a velvety mouth feel with lots of vanilla, toffee and maple syrup notes up front. Then you get berries and some fig notes leading to wood spice/toasted oak driven finish with a dash of cinnamon. It lingers on the tongue. Really well executed.’ This pour is the standard against which I’ll hold all other bourbons against.

Nice beautiful traditional bourbon nose. Caramel syrup here with a hint of cherry. Medium finish. Not a huge hug at 100 proof. But definitely an amped up version of normal ETL. Definitely taste a little wood, spice, with a building heat. Fruity on the back end.

Nose is alcoholy toffee with St. one cotton candy. Maybe some fruit and brown sugar. The tastes is brown sugar/toffee and dark fruit. The ethanol is present in the back palate/throat. There’s also vanilla light baking spice.

Absolutely stellar. Smoked butterscotch and Turkish tobacco on the nose to Carmel honey and grapey cherry candy on the palate. Finish is where this one lacks but over all its still outstanding.

Great nose of caramel, strawberry jam and hints of citrus (grapefruit and lime for me). A lot of the same on the palette with the addition of coffee notes. Good balance and medium finish.
