From the start it was just different in a very nice way. It smelled and tasted like bourbon but subtlety different. The oak nose was earthy, ashy and fruity. The first taste mirrored those characteristics. It was a very satisfying, relaxing tasting - Ahhhh..... I sank deeper into my armchair and enjoyed the experience. The top of the bottle was the best. The second half of the bottle was not quite as pleasurable as the first half. Still good! But just not as it was initially. I should have finished it more quickly. FWIW, this was barrel #908, barreled on 9/27/13 and bottled on 7/16/21.

Molasses on the nose, as well as slight alcohol; Sweet palate with apple and some spices. Slight burn going down, but nothing too bad; short finish. Overall, a good bourbon at this price. Reminds me a little of the EW 1783, if my memory serves. My bottle's info: Barrelled on 12/20/13 Barrell # 159 Bottled on 1/28/21 10/15/22: I feel it important to add to my taste: I just finished my last bottle of EW SB.... I followed up with some Blanton's. I'll be damned if it's not as good as the latter!
Barreled on 9.27.13 Barrel No. 866 Bottled on 7.16.21 Overpowered nutty taste, not nutty notes, but a robust nutty flavor. Honestly thought I accidentally bought peanut butter whiskey. It seemed like a very good value for a single barrel under $30, but based on other reviews it seems like I may have had a bad barrel? I would love to find someone with this vintage from a different barrel to compare.
Nose: lots of dried fruits, mostly apples and pears, along with pepper spice, vanilla, and a splash of cream Palate: a step back from the nose in terms of potency, likely due to the proof, but still get hints of vanilla and cream covered fruit Finish: as expected it does not stay around long, but the spice does linger along with the vanilla
Smell. Oak corn. Peanut butter? Nutty mild spice toffee Taste. Burn upfrony mild middle Spice at the end. Cinnamon. White oak but not smokey. Light taste. Corn. Light mild tobacco.. not too roasty. Not as sweet as I expected nutty cashew? Vanilla. Mild mouth feel doesn't linger. Ethanol
Nose: Sweet caramel and vanilla contrast graham cracker and seasoned oak with a touch of toasted marshmallow. Palate: Aged oak, caramel, cinnamon, and a hint of pepper. Finish: A peppery kick starts things off and finishes with sweeter notes of caramel, vanilla, oak and a hint of tobacco.
