A complex Reposado Tequila by Master Tequila distiller Carlos Carmarena in collaboration with French wine expert, Jean-Sébastien Robicquet for House of Carmarena Distillery in Highlands, Los Altos, Mexico aged for 9 months in grand cru sauternes wine casks & cognac barrels. It has a sweet birth with notes of honey, mushroom, toasted wood, dried lavender, jasmine & violet; while a complex life adds notes of agave, pumpkin, cigar-box, caramelized-agave, a hint of rancio & orchard fruits; that led to a long & rich death with notes of brown sugar, earth & spices. About this bottle
Excellia is a project created by EWG Spirits & Wine founder Jean-Sébastien Robicquet and master tequila producer Carlos Carmarena, combining traditional tequila with the technique of wine cask aging. The reposado was aged 9 months in a combination of grand cru Sauternes and Cognac barrels, using agave that is 8 - 10 years old at harvest.
