Nose: beautiful toasted oak spice and raisin in golden corn sauce (4.25ish) Palate: bourbon with dark fruit, chocolate, tobacco, slight mint, and baking spices. It seems very crush-able and light for the 99 proof with wonderful mouthfeel and some complexity, and I'm appreciating that it's not heavy for once. (4.25ish) Finish: Acetone, acidic esters show up to remind us of its age. It doesn't ruin what comes before, but it makes you want to drink more to get back to the first part... (3.5ish) I'm tempted to raise this to a 4 star rec because it is an insane value and steal..
About this bottle
This is the first in an expected series of annual finishes for the Ezra Brooks 99 portfolio. Here, the brand begins with their Kentucky straight bourbon (78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley) and finishes it in port wine casks for six months. Bottled at the signature 99 proof (49.5% ABV), this is being shipped to retailers nationwide in April 2024. (SRP $34.99)

Was hoping this could be a cheaper substitute for the Woodinville port but it doesnt quite make it. Theres a weird texture or flavor that I dont care for, almost that thick velvety mouthfeel of a merlot. Dont really care for it in whiskey.
Nose: Cinnamon, black tea, tobacco, oak, vanilla, and leather. Palate: Cinnamon candies, dark chocolate, leather, mixed berries, baking spices, and oak. Finish: Mid-length to long, with lingering chocolate, berries, and spice.
Vanilla with perhaps don't berries. Flavor is a touch of spice with dark berry, burnt oak, and caramel.
