About this bottle

This high-rye Kentucky straight bourbon is made for Lux Row Distillers from a mash bill of corn, rye, and malted barley. These bottlings are hand selected by retailers, bars, and restaurants with those details listed on each bottle. As is the nature of single barrel whiskey, expect to see slight flavor variations in each selection. It's bottled at cask strength.

This single barrel store pick came from a tasting they had. I’m still mostly unable to pick out more simple notes, in this or other bourbons. Nose: I get ethanol and some sweetness, maybe vanilla. Palate: I get the same as the nose, ethanol up front with sweet vanill and a hint of spiciness. Mouthfeel: not overly oily but not thin. Coats my mouth. Legs are many and run down the glass. Evolution: It lingers on the palate. The ethanol moves to the chest and vanilla, and spices remain. Its tough to get over the proof at first, but very pleasant and drinkable. Not exciting in any real way, but not disappointing.

Barrel 7352505, filled 3/31/16, chosen by Total Wine—CTX. Nose of oak, cinnamon, toasted grain, caramel, vanilla, and milk chocolate, with pecan pie, peanut butter and a little something floral once a little water is added. Sweet, with apple, cinnamon, vanilla, chocolate, honey, nuts, oak, chamomile, char and toasted malt flavors. Something seems a little raw. Hot but not too much. @twostal

Golden with an underlying red hue N - heavy brown sugar, creme brûlée, P - thick mouthfeel, oak, spices, subtle dark red fruits F - a pleasant oak heavy finish with a slow burn that lingers A very nice, slightly complex bourbon that is drinkable, yet reminds you of its proof in a positive way.

Bourbob pursuit barrel 7390066 barrel filled 5/10/2015 120 proof. Nose: caramel and mint nose. Palette: sweet up front with anise and caramel. Rye spice on the back palette with brown sugar and slight mint in the finish. Some almond and vanilla as well.

Not going to impress the flavor seekers of the world, but a surprisingly easy nose for it’s proof. For those neck hairs who aren’t afraid, a wonderful bourbon for the drinkers that want a high proof whiskey.

Nose of cinnamon apple sauce . Palate follows the nose as flavors of appe cider dominates the taste , but hinte of warm oak and butter round out the profile . Nice pour for $55 cask strength bottle
