Next to the old fashion or even whiskey barrel aged Fees bitters, this is one of the more popular of the collection. I have found this to be used in a number of cocktail recipes and is even used in combination with other orange bitters to make a house orange (Death & Company cocktail book to name one). The west indian orange bitters are very light in comparison to other orange bitters. There is a hint of bitterness, but its primarily just the orange flavoring you get from these. I have combined these with Regan's orange bitters in the house orange from Death & Company and it works very well (2 parts Regan's to 1 part Fees), so I would suggest going down that path if you plan to buy these. You will find a number of recipes that do just call for these bitters, so even if you don't want to do that, it's still worth having around, just don't expect them to add a ton to most cocktails. If you just want to own one orange bitter, I would stick with Regan's.

Back in the day when there were no orange bitters this brand was still pumping it out. To me Glycerin takes over the profile but there are sweet orange peel and flesh flavors here. Not bitter at all. Combine with one part Regans no 6 and you make Milk and Honeys house bitters. Combine equal parts Regans, Angostura Orange and this and you get Death and company’s House Orange bitters

Very sweet orange nose and only slightly bitter. Does not have a lot of herbs - mostly orange.
