Finlandia Vodka

I was served this as a 50ml mini bottle on a recent flight, so held on to one to taste neat in real life. Clear and weak coating legs in the glass. Nose is light ethanol and floral vanilla or honeysuckle. In the mouth, ditto. Sweet and soft. Little mouthfeel. Finish shows some grain and sweetgrass. Fairly long, with lingering floral sweetness. Clean, no funky bitter ethanol flavors. It's vodka, an essentially tasteless ethanol that's meant to be a non-offensive vehicle for other flavorings. This Finlandia is fine. I've had more interesting potato and rye vodkas, and much much MUCH worse vodkas, but this barley distillate proofed with spring water is fine. Fine is the word, cuz... it's vodka. The 101 proof version would be fine, maybe more interesting, but fine too. Ok, fine, I'm done here.

This is a very solid Vodka and it is a steal at $18 in my area. I bought this to fill out my bar along with Smirnoff and I have loved both of these. Finlandia is very smooth and can be sipped neat. However, I would chill the bottle first as the Vodka warm is rough to sip. This liquid mixes very well with everything I have thrown at it. Things like coke, OJ, and I have used it in making Vesper Martini's and it is great. Now I do have to state that it is Vodka and has no real taste of it's own and that has to be taken into consideration as well. I think this is a very good Vodka at a great price and I will try to keep this in my bar. Enjoy.

Usually being a Whisky guy i picked this up on behalf of a recommendation searching for a good, low-mid budget vodka that you could drink neat, without ice or maybe as a moscow mule. And i was not disappointed, on the nose the alcohol is almost non present, on the tongue he presents himself rather soft, with notes of sweet and slightly malty barley, the finnish has a tiny bit of bite that almost instantly vanishes to make room for that typicall warmth in your mouth and throat. Definitely a great bottle for a bonfire in winter, icefishing or most all smaller parties.

Finlandia vodka has mountain air and vanilla in the aroma.The entey is sweet with a Johnny one note of light vanilla from the start to the finish.It is not a mixer but a vanilla flavor vodka that's mediocre.

My preferred vodka to sip straight. Initially smooth, pleasant peppery bite, slight ethanol finish. Not as neutral as Luksusowa, but it has more character. No bitter or off notes that I can detect.

A crisp Vodka crafted in Finland with barley & untainted & unfiltered glacier water. It has a delicate birth with hint of barley while a creamy life led to a crisp & balanced death. March 2018
