An intense, 'Blended Bourbon Whiskey by Master Blender Kelsey McKechnie for Willian Grant & Sons; a family of Scotch brands. This is the first Bourbon crafted in New York & bottled at 45% ABV. 'Why Fistful of Bourbon, you ask? Each finger represents a different Whiskey that went into the final blend. That's 5 fingers & 5 juices. One that's sweet & smooth, a green & floral one, a warm & spicy one, a creamy toffee one, and a cinnamon & licorice one.' It has an aromatic birth with notes of vanilla, mint, ginger, caramel, hints of corn, nut & sweet fruits; while a bold life adds notes of vanilla, cinnamon, corn & oak; that led to a warm & spicy death of medium length with notes of cinnamon & vanilla. Nose: Sweet candy cinnamon wih vanilla Palate: Soft oak, more baking spices with a hint of vanilla Finish: Short with more spice I have seen this sub-$30 (and now defuct brand) on shelves with handwritten signs expressing what a good value it is. They are not entirely wrong. This is a simple, fine bourbon that mixes spice and sweet well. It won’t blow your socks off but it is serviceable as a sipper.
Well above average bourbon. A bit standard nose however. Apple, vanilla, burnt caramel. The palate has a bit more to offer. Sour apple on the front, then it goes into more dark caramel malt notes. Some spices come through as the finish is a bit more on the sweeter end. Nice lingering finish with a bit of spice throughout. I appreciate the spice as its light, but adds some variety.
Initially, peach on the nose. Replaced quickly by oak, vanilla, & smoke. First sip was ginger on the front of the palate and all burn on the back while making its way down. The next few sips were very nutty and a little bit of spice(pepper). An interesting bourbon overall but I think it falls more into a category of fun to try rather than a staple to keep on hand.
Nose- mild oak and vanilla Palette- starts spicy and cinnamon and then tapers into oak and vanilla. Finish- lingering oak and vanilla with a spicy tingle. Overall- a budget bottle that has some layers. I was recommended this bottle and was reluctant to buy it. But after tasting it, there is plenty of complexity to enjoy! A fun budget bottle.
Nice bourbon with smells of burnt wood, citrus, allspice, light mint, floral with touches of caramel. The taste is a punchy spicy heat that's followed by heavy oak, licorice, cinnamon but the finish is medium. If the finish was as strong as the initial taste I would rate it higher. Great for the price.
