So I have been on a Rum kick in the summer heat and I had a chance to pick up a bottle of Flor de Cana 4yr rum and it is a wonderful low-cost rum and for the price, it is out of this world. It is somewhat sweet but not cloying or syrupy. It mixes very well with everything I have used and it can be sipped if you are in the mood. I am sure there are better 4-year-old rums out there but I do not think there are better at this price. I will try to keep this in my home bar and use it often and I highly recommend this.
About this bottle
Like many rum bottlers, this once held an age statement, but the number "4" is a representation figure and not a statement of age. It is aged for an undisclosed amount of time in Nicagurgua where it is produced. "Oro" is Spanish for gold and this name reflects the color of the rum. It is bottled at 80 proof.

This has been my go to rum for awhile. I don’t notice much difference between this and the 7 to justify the $10 difference in price. Not molasses heavy like a lot of rums. Makes a good mixer or in a rum old-fashioned.
* Nariz: Tenue dulzor, nada de alcohol, ligera vainilla en el background * Boca: Chocolate dulce, algo de melocotón. Cinnamon. Textura ligera. * Final: Medio
Price is amazing for an aged rum. This is my baseline mixer for making cuba libres. Very sweet and not enjoyable straight, yet makes an amazing mixer.
Nose: Oak and ethanol. Palate: A little sweetness, some oak. Not a whole lot going on. Finish: Lingering oak and sugar. Not very exciting.
for how cheap this is I would buy this any day and think its great for mixing. kind of a different more earthy and less sweet rum
