The nose is vibrant and full of charred oak, floral rye, a touch of spearmint and vanilla, and fresh fruit. The nose does come across a bit simple but it is very inviting. Its fresh and rich and unmistakably Four Roses. The palate can be swirled around for quite some time before a burst of black pepper kicks in, lighting up the entire mouth. Sharp oak and vanilla fill the mouth as rye spice comes in behind it all. The rye loses its floral notes and comes off as mostly spicy, yet for as spicy as this is, there is also a wonderful smoothness to it. The finish is long and spicy, and very chewy. Oak and vanilla fade in the background as the mouth tingles from each sip.
