This was a 2oz sample in an advent calendar that I received for Christmas 2024. The inital nose on this is pretty soft, but you do get a few hints of runts candy and light banana bread. The first sip is perfect given the proof of ~100. It’s soft, oily and has a nice long tail. The second sip gives you hints of banana, apricot, creme bruele / toffee, and baking spices. The finish is very satisfying as it falls off slowly. This is a great pour, but some will feel for the cost might not hit as hard as $100 should, two-three years ago this would have been a $65 dollar bottle and would have been perfect at that price, but thanks to the bourbon boom / tatercraze we all need to reset our goal posts.

Richly appointed nose with a plethora of baking spices, vanilla and boozy whiskey balls. A light entry on the palate that teases you with a feather touch, but quickly transforms into a powerhouse of intense oakiness. A dry, woody flavor permeates the grain bill, leaving any inherent sweetness incognito. The body is medium, and the finish is extra long. We find this whiskey to be perfect for an Old-Fashioned, Mint Julep or Gold Rush; basicaly any cocktail that calls for an extra bit of sweetness.
Batch 1, bottle 107. Nose not surprisingly dominated by charred oak, with cinnamon, apple, ethanol, toasted caramel, and vanilla. Sweet and pretty smooth; charred oak, caramel, vanilla, cherry, apple and cinnamon. Shortish charcoal finish. Overall good, but not particularly special. After some time in the air, I have decided to bump it up a notch. I’m getting increased richness, bright fruit, and oaky caramel complexity. Give it some time…
BATCH 1 NEAT NOSE - Caramel, Cherries, and Vanilla Buttercream Frosting PALATE - Light brown sugar, Caramel, Vanilla, and a Soft Touch of Oak. Sweet but with a surprising bit of spice. FINISH - Very balanced. Medium. BUY? - I don’t like the price point of this, but it’s easiky one of the best and most well rounded double oak bourbons I’ve had so far. BUY AGAIN? - The price is high, but I could see myself replacing this bottle.
Tried neat, thanks to @Looneyhead for sharing!! I sctuslly havent had this and see it in the store and always wonder how it is… so lets dig in. On the nares its fuity woth a sode of char and i gather notes of vanilla, caramel, green apples, fruit cake. On the palate its warm and cozy with notes of pecan pie, brown sugar, oats, slight vanilla, cherries, cocoa nibs. Yum!
Picked this one, as i like double oaked whiskey. The nose was melow with dark sugar and oak. The palate drew more of thise nose, but there was a little more sweetness an a little hars finish. With an abv of 49.5%, made this an easy sip for me. First Fox and Oden that i uave tried. Mine was batch #3.
