About this bottle

In the 1850s, a man by the name of John Gibson purchased 40 acres of land and built his distillery by the Monongahela River in Pennsylvania. Business was successful until Prohibition, when they suffered the same fate of many other distilleries at the time. Some decades later, the brand was purchased by a Canadian company and reintroduced to the market. Today, Gibson's is a well known whisky brand in Canada. Gibson’s Finest Sterling is made by blending together grain (corn-based) whisky with rye and malted barley. It's bottled without an age statement.

For a cheap Canadian whisky - this does it pretty well. It isn’t exciting but is simple and sweet. At a very cheap price point it doesn’t feel like it’s trying hard either. Definitely a decent cheap whisky for cocktails. Bearable neat too!

While technically a lower tier whisky than Gibson's 12 Year Old, I prefer the Sterling. I think it's because much like the 18 Year Old, the Sterling is a bit fruity, which I very much like in a whisky.

Nothing going on here, don’t waste your time. Neat little bottle though.

Terribly bland. Not terrible, just no nose, no tasting notes, no finish.

Nice light flavor. More flavor than standard Canadian whisky.
