There is an immediate sweetness similar to a slightly bitter honey, there is noticeable red wine notes that either come off as spicy and bold or a bit pungent and in some moments to me actually off putting. the finish isn’t very long but holds a spicy, semi-dry finish. this probably ranks 4/5 from the cask finish line. I found port to be more palatable, and the peated to be a good combo between peat and speyside sweetness.

Light gold color, with a nose of blackberries. Taste is astringent, and somewhat peaty, with notes of vanilla and cloves. Has a lingering finish of anise and black fruit, and has a very velvety rich mouthfeel. Overall not a bad value, as we got it on clearance at our local liquor store, but not my favorite scotch.
You can really smell the wine notes while sniffing, and it's quite a unique experience . The problem lies with the palate... It's a VERY awkward combination of ethanol, ashtray, rotten fruit and peat. Quite unpleasant. The finish is mainly this strange chemical rot smell as well...
Definitely a lot of clean speyside malt with fruity notes from the cask, but as opposed to the buttery chard, the cab ends up more chocolatey
