I tasted this 18 year old Speyside single malt scotch at 47.2%abv, and again with a little added water, in the evening. It is non-chill filtered with artificial colour. This has been a good study for me on on aging scotch in American oak - Lemon, vanilla, and banana on the nose which also appear on the palate. However, the wood character explodes on the tongue at first sip, belieing the smooth and light smell. The palate burns with spice and alcohol. Behind that, you'll feel buttery toffee and some sweet lingering floral notes. A drop of water helps differentiate the flavours pleasantly. The finish is long, light and ever so slightly sweet. I like it!

Oak, dry wood, and vanilla on the nose. Ephemerally light, the slight sweetness doing a lot of work to give it enough substance to enjoy and cover up the heat. Short ish finish with some spicy clove. Nice, but less robust than I prefer from an 18-year

Berry sweetness on the nose, strawberry mostly on the tongue, excellent wood flavors underneath but that sweet berry is the star. Good richness for its age, well balanced and tasty, but not super memorable.

Nose: Yeast, toasted barley. Palate: Very honeyed and floral, with wood spices on the back of the palate. Body and finish: Full and heavy, with a long finish - the ABV really does this whisky justice.

Tried this at the whisky extravaganza. Great stuff. Fruity, spicy, woody, and has notes of caramel. Very balanced.
