About this bottle
Grand Vintage 1998 is part of Glenmorangie's The Bond House No. 1 Collection named for the brand's largest 19th century bonded warehouses. The single malt was distilled in 1998 which was also the year Dr. Bill Lumsden became the brand's Director of Whisky Creation. Lumsden included new charred oak in this creation which until this point had never been used at Glenmorangie. In addition to using this type of barrel to wood finish some of the whisky, it was also used with new-make spirit. Other barrels used here are first-fill bourbon and oloroso sherry casks. Available in the US as of August 2022.

Tasted the Grand Vintage 1996, 1997 and 1998 side by side. Overall, the 1996 was better in overall balance, integration of flavours and taste. The 1997 had the most unique palate, with the red wine cask maturation really showing through. And the 1998 was the easiest to drink.
