About this bottle

Hibiki Japanese Harmony (2018 Holiday Bottling) will be available from October 1, 2018 to both celebrate the holiday season and to honor the 30th anniversary of the Hibiki brand. The packaging was inspired by a traditional kimono pattern and is embellished with the tabane-noshi, a traditional Japanese symbol of celebration. These noshi, or bundles, are extremely auspicious and symbolize shared happiness with others. Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a blend of malt and grain whiskies from the House of Suntory whisky distilleries Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita and was first introduced in 2015.

I’ve tasted the Hibiki 12 and 17 year older brothers of this whiskey, and their is a faint resemblance, just as milk reminds one of cream. The last time I purchased this Japanese Harmony version of Hibiki, the price had doubled from its previously well priced offering, making it an over priced version for its actual quality. I just got my hands on Hibiki 21 and this one has spent 21 years refining itself into something that halts time itself. It’s that stunning, but the un-aged varietal here is a faint shadow of the finished product.
