Complex nose consisting of vanilla, green apple, honey, grapefruit zest, and seawater spray. Letting it sit a while brings out apricot, melon and unripened pear. The palate consists of vanilla, honey, salt water brine, and green apple. I find this to become better and better the more it is allowed to sit and breathe. I did not add any water to this or expose it to cold air or ice but I suspect that the profile would almost completely change. Nose: a little sharp with ethanol/fuminess off the cuff but will subside some if you let it sit. A few drops of water helps it out as well. Apple, honey, cereal grains, slight herbal note, oak, others have suggested sandalwood and I can see that, hint of vanilla and cherry perhaps. Palate: better than the nose, light sweetness, apple, honey, barrel spices, black pepper, woody oak, a little smokiness, a nice herbal quality on the finish. Solid, but not a great Japanese whiskey, imo. However, some may really like this as it is just different enough from what you would get from a scotch.
On the nose, oak, apple, umami, sandalwood, cherry. On the palate oak, light smoke, black pepper, cherry, and a touch of vanilla. Peppery finish.
Very smooth, I’m just not a scotch lover. Not my favorite, but could easily see why someone would really like it.
Butter and vanilla in the aroma. Flavor is sweet and woody with bites of sorry bread, and wood.
This reminds me of my great great grandfather who fought in the war.
