High Bank Whiskey War Barrel Proof

#3 in my New Years quest to find the Matrix,(Lol). My bottle is batch 44 and 116 proof. Nasal thoughts: caramel - sweetness, oak and a touch of leather. Tasty budz: sweet ethanol, charred oak and a bit flat after that. Definitely a youngster but with lots of potential and worth giving a try. I have been wanting to try this local distillery and finally found my own bottle. No regrets in picking up this bottle and will be curious to see what the future brings for this distillery.

Very good, rye dominates the palate, with some fruit notes dispersed throughout. Almost thought this was finished. Drinks slightly lower than its proof, though the heat does linger, it's less of a punch and more of a radiating type of heat. A nice warm hug. Very peppery. Good stuff.

Nose is pleasant but hard to identify, somewhat green grain smell. High quality rye flavor but taste really blossoms with a few drops of water. Proof is surprising given overall smoothness. Almost a bubble gum flavor coming through. Finish is long and full.

You can smell the nose on this one far before you reach the glass. Surprisingly smooth for as strong as it is. To be fair, I’m not a big fan of blended whiskeys… but this one is sippable.

Strong on first taste, but mellows as you sip it. Blend of Small Batch Rye and Small Batch Bourbons. 80% Rye. From High Bank Distillery. Drinks like a Barrel Proof Rye.

Clear smell, not sweet like many others. Warm and smooth, actually very smooth considering its 116+ proof. You do feel that when it hits bottom. Very warm.
