Well, this is when it all began: During my first 50 years, I did not care about whisky at all. I didn‘t like the smell nor the taste of this kind of spirit. But did I actually know what a good whisky tastes like, or even what whisky IS? No. My only association of whisky was as a mixer with cola at the bar when the nights got really long and no other ideas came up. It all changed when my former boss, whom I invited to my party to celebrate my big birthday, gave me the High Coast Berg (batch No 1) as a gift: Aha. Whisky. From Sweden. Ok. So a couple of weeks later I gave it a try and I opened the bottle. Wow! What an experience! The nose with vanilla, nuts and caramel. The palate sweet, but also spicy with cinamon. The finish warm and cosy. I liked it! And so it all began. Now, I have a nice collection of whiskies from Scotland, Japan, India, Taiwan - and Sweden. Thank you High Coast for having led me to this wonderful sensual world of smell, taste and emotions! Therefore it can’t be less than a 5 star rating.

Batch 09 from Sweden This is an amazing whiskey. I echo the dried fruits, even pear, char, and vanilla all on the nose. Vanilla shines with cherries and cream with a touch of may red hots and a long finish touching on menthol and more candy. Amazing. My brother-in-law is from Sweden and picked a bottle up while there on a visit. Recommend if you can find it, cheers
Subtle sweetness in the nose, molasses. Dark wood aroma mixed in. Wood dominates the flavor, a big hit with a fairly long tail. Flavors spread into chocolate and spice, but a deep heat like you'd get from a pepper. Musty and complex, hint of sweetness but mostly wood, chocolate, and heat. Quite interesting, very enjoyable.
Excellent whisky that shows the potential from High Coast. You will get greeted with plums, raisins and dried fruits in general when nosing it - and the subtle vanilla in the background. Amazing. Moving on to the palate we find dry sherried oak wich is just absolutely loverly.
I think this pretty young (6-7yrs) sherrybomb might fit on my top 3 when it comes to swedish whisky so far. It's rich, deep and got a descent bite. No peat or smoke. Main notes in my flavour tags. Try it if you can! 👍🏻
Soft, kind, sweet, full, nice. Very smooth and free of alcoholic taste or burn for its 50% ABV and probably young age. Just calm and nice. Batch 6 2021.
