It was the only one on the shelf at Total Wine and the bourbon guy said they get them one at a time.... so I had to... right? Well it’s got the fruit and the decadence of a bourbon that does in fact have a wine influence. There’s some solid grain in the linger too. And a little bit more heat than I would expect from a 90 proofer. So to address the question. It is interesting and complex and I’m glad I tried it. Not as sure I’m glad I went in at 91$, and probably wouldn’t again, but that just means I need to drink this bottle nice and slow. I’ll bust it out with friends more for the story, than the actual substance it brings to the table.

for me, this is a very dry whiskey. might have to do with the cab finish? even though the taste is satisfying, it doesn’t match the nose which is much more full. one of the more interesting releases i’ve been able to come across.

Delicious and my new favorite (for now). Smooth and noticeably better than other bourbons at this price point ($90-$100) and I think it beats the Bardstown #4 by a hair and that bottle is $50 more. Not too sweet. Just right.

First pour. Light amber color. Sweet spice on the nose. very smooth with virtual no bite. Not much oak either. Sweet spice with the second sip. Good mouth feel. Not oily. Not much depth. Hope this opens up more

Wonderful. Slight cherry, very minimal notes of wine from the cab barrels, oak, and much stronger rye flavors than I would’ve expected for the low content. Really like how the rye comes through.

Notes of Leather and tobacco. There’s a sweetness on the nose after it opens a bit. A bit on the nose and during the taste you get the wine side of a freshly popped cork.
