I had this Bourbon at the beautiful distillery Stitzel-Weller. It’s a medium body Kentucky Bourbon with medium sized legs and a light amber color. At first i sensed caramel and toffee on the nose. Waited for some time and it opened to get more woody and spicy. I got wet pine wood, wood chips mixed with mint, dill, pepper and lime. The palate is more narrowed to lime, orange with pine wood and nutmeg with some smoke. After having it neat, i poured some drops of water which brought more orange notes to the nose and a longer finish with vanilla, but very subtle. Overall a good Bourbon without the traditional Kentucky hug, but not too much from the Cabernet Sauvignon finish.

Nose: sweet and fruity. You can sense the hint of the cab Taste: fruity for sure. Not citrus, but dark fruits. Burns early but finishes nice. I don't want to say bland because it's good, but it's not heavy on flavors. It sounds like a slight, but it's not. Tasty and light. Would be an incredible intro bourbon.
I.W. Harper Cabernet Cask Reserve is a gentleman's boardroom whiskey from more than a century ago. Leather, oak, pipe tobacco, caramel, and baking spices drift up to please you. The entry is sweet with caramel, stone fruit, and oak. The finish is baking spices and vanilla. First class all the way.
I don’t have any of their standard products to contrast with, so its difficult to tell how much the Cabernet cuanges things. Overall, it is a mild, standard sort of Bourbon, perhaps a bit sweeter and with a hint of that Cabernet fruitiness. Very easy drinking neat
The cabernet cask really comes on strong and shines above towards the end. However, as is always the case with 90 proof, the finish is short and leaves a little to be desired. Overall, solid offering from the folks at Stitzel-Weller.
Second bottle of the Cabernet Cask, this one is a little more wine forward than the cinnamon I got on the first bottle. Will see how it opens up over time. Still an enjoyable pour to just sip on at a $50.
