Iron Smoke CASKet Strength Straight Bourbon

My neighbor gifted this to me, and I have to say, it's INTENSE at 120 Proof! Starts off with a blast of spice, along with a ton of leather and tobacco, then, with a pretty oily mouth-feel, finishes with only a hint of honey and dark caramel. There's a smoky component that adds more of a peatiness than an actual smoke flavor. Something akin to a peated Scotch or Irish whiskey. A few drops of water tames it, but only a bit. Ice is a better accompaniment, IMHO.

Tasted at an event so take my notes with a grain of salt. Tasted neat. Color is indistinguishable from 80 proofer. Nose is more subtle than 80 proof. On palate this isnt bad. Reminds me of Benchmark barrel proof. Told its an $80 bottle. Hard pass for value. Unfortunately this is a 3 star whiskey with a 5 star price. 2 stars is a gift.

Pastry dough nose. Youthful wood, BBQ sauce, hint of clove, and smoked s'mores. Curious what more age will unveil.

Doesn't drink like it's 120 proof. Smooth, rich, delicious mouthfeel.
